Oh, sorry, did I break your concentration? Somewhere between science and superstition? To show you Strange Aeons. Welcome Strange Aeons radio. That's Eric over there. Hello. That's Vanessa over there. Hello, guys, the world is kind of opened up. And yeah, as you know, I have the Commodore book coming out and they got sent to me. And out of the 77 about 20 of them were okay. So I had to meet with Rick Tillman, who helps on the who's the publishing side of Strange Aeons. And we met at a restaurant that we all frequent pretty regularly and telling him that he's furious because one of the problems makes zero sense. And this stuff and then walking by comes, Jason Weiss just stops, he's like, hey, he points at me. And I'm like, hey, and I, I knew it was Jason right. But I have this, this weird social anxiety because I haven't seen Jason in two years. And I'm like, that's Jason, isn't it? And so now I'm in the mode of Hey, you and Rick is the worst girlfriend ever. You know? How are your significant other knows if you have an introduce somebody, they immediately will introduce themselves. Hi, I'm Rick. Exactly, yeah. Rick just sits there like a fucking frog on a stone. But I know it's Jason. I just, I don't know, I'm, I don't know why I'm so worried about saying, hey, Jason, or something like seriously, like a weird COVID thing. Like, every time I think about being social and start to be social, it gets like something clamps down. And it's like a panic, like, Wait, you're not supposed to be doing this. And like, It's weird. And the situation's off. And like, I totally get blinking on my life. I've always been that way since high school. I didn't blink on them. I just didn't trust myself that I knew. I even have a bank you here for Jason giving us a nice little way. It had been such a shitty meeting of just, you know, grumbling and how we're going to fix this and all this stuff. And then here comes this guy that you know, out of context, I don't get to see very often. And then about three quarters of the way through the meeting and always be said hi by and all that stuff. I noticed where he was sitting, he was just enjoying a meal by himself and everything. And I was like, shit, if this wasn't such a shitty dinner, I would have said, Hey, come on over and join us. So instead, I told him that next time we I said, Hey, come here regularly. Yeah. Should you call next time? He's like, yeah, right in the area. So Oh, nice. Really cool. So. Okay. Okay. Wow, you got to see another human being. That's pretty exciting. And another human being that I like. So few and far between. I also got to see some pretty cool shit. One of them. Brand new. Okay, werewolves within. Oh my god. I want to see that so bad because it's based on the game, right? Yes, I guess but I've never played the game. So it's extremely straightforward. Well, this movie is not extremely sink knives out. Possibly with a werewolf set in Fargo. I mean, that's amazing. It's I think I had my hopes set a little too high for it. But I still enjoyed it quite a bit. I just thought it was going to be like, the best thing I had ever seen. Yeah, it was it was a lot of fun, though. It is available as a rental right now. guys should check it out. Yeah, I was really stoked to try and hunt it down in theaters, but unfortunately, it's playing in one indie theater in Tacoma. Okay, well, I guess I'm gonna have to wait for it to get a wider distribution or just give up and watch it on my TV. I was really looking forward to it because I know that Philip for caceis wife is involved. She's like, the VP of something at square soft. And so on the game end of it. Yes. She was involved. And I was like, I want to see something and support people. Well, I also watched something brand new. That just kind of came out on the old Netflix. Okay. Did either of you get a chance to watch part one fear street? Yes. Yeah. What did what did he? I don't know, man. They had some Dutch angles. I actually didn't notice the Dutch angles. I did think it was really bad. Of course. Of course, I love RL Stein. I grew up on Greece. I grew up on fear Street. I missed that. I have no idea what this I didn't realize it was based on our All Star until the credits were rolling. Yeah, so I have no frame of reference to where I was coming from. Was it? Was this an adaptation of a book? Not? No, not not specifically that I could? Nothing I knew of, frankly, is wonder because I know he delved into more adult. Yeah, style horror for a while was this from that. So what it was, was there was goosebumps, which is for middle schoolers, and then when you become like a preteen slash teenager, that's when you get into fear Street. These are not adult books. They're like, going from baby sitters club to I don't know, your games. Yeah, exactly. It's like it's still very ya. And it's a lot of the even if you look at the covers, a lot of them are just based on really, really typical horror tropes, like summer camp, or and you know, like monster or whatever. It's, it's really it's not goofy and fun and bright in the way that goosebumps are. It's it's definitely got that darker blood Sheen, but it's not good. I read Salem's lot when I was 10. So I think I skipped the escape. Pose. It wasn't, you know, wasn't available. The closest I came was the three investigators Alfred Hitchcock Presents. Yeah, I got in trouble in the fourth grade for doing a book report on Cujo. So right? Yeah, I just I was just frustrated with some of the some of the choices. I felt like it was just kind of jump in its way through a story and I don't know it. Like I don't know why we started to care about people. And then they were like, nevermind, we're just gonna kill them. Like one second later. Well, and not surprisingly, I liked it. Oh, okay. Yeah. But I went in kind of thinking it would be bad. And then I was like, Oh, this isn't that bad. I certainly watched Wars movies. Kong Vs. Godzilla, for example, my heart, my heart. Fuzzy and he just wants to be home. His family. His family's there and the upside down. I thought it was fine. It was good as it did a relatively decent job of mimicking what was going on in the 90s was for which wasn't necessarily always that good. That's, like the scream kind of feel. Yeah, exactly. And overly Paki kind of stuff. Which when you got Kevin Williamson writing, it works. When you got somebody who doesn't over flower their language, and tries to make it feel real, like I don't need as much talking. Yeah, they're gonna be real. Just go do a drama. Oh, watch the second one. I will 100%. Watch the second and the third one. And that's the most interesting about this is that they're releasing a trilogy of films a week apart. That's unusual, right? I was really stoked, but there's a horror thing in the summer time, around Fourth of July. Like I that really hooked me. I was from seeing the trailer alone. I was like I'm in Plus, I don't know. It feels like they're giving those Stranger Things. Kids some more stuff to do. This one starts off with the girl who is at scoops Ahoy. Will. Yeah, and then the next one will have the redhead. I don't know who will be in the third. But I'm sure there'll be another kid. That's interesting. Well, I mean, once you're on the Netflix roster, yes. Star. Yeah, I wonder if they're doing maybe they're trying out the HBO or other streaming networks release schedules. Like what happens if we don't dump all of our shit at once? will people be that generate is one going to generate enough voice that more people watch to watch. I wonder if there's a very first kind of series thing ever at least like that, even if it is not TV series, but it's the first connected things that haven't just gone through you. Yeah, enjoy them all. Well, and also if the whole thing is to just generate subscriptions. You want to start your series halfway through a month so that it has to end in two months or something right and at least keep people buying your subscription service for three months. Oh, sure. I know I'm so I'm so committed. I just can't even think about like, Oh, yeah, I need to hold on to that for a few months. It's like no, once I sign up I'm in there for life. Yeah. seems to be that way. Well, that leads into what I saw because I saw a trailer for that in the theater. Wait, did my theater finally and saw a different one than they? Really? Didn't and I went and saw f Nine. Nine. Yeah, there you go. The hype might be real. But if you expect anything but absolute stupidity in the way ship get the done and the Fast and the Furious movie you should have checked out at five. Because, yeah, it's insane. They go to space. What the hell, why not? The ship that magnets do in this movie is beyond comprehension. Everything after Hobbs and Shaw where the rock is standing there on a cliff, preventing what was preventing a helicopter or holding a car, holding on to and moving cars and a chain that's holding that door HELOC exactly have you looked at the Robbie's biceps. It's so possible it's as believable as two guys taking the arrow into space. So that that actually happens. Oh, yeah. Does that make killer for me? I'm also not a Vin Diesel fan. I series in spite of him, and ways to get rid of stay them in the rock. I was like, Well, those are the people I like in the show. The biggest problem I had actually with the movie was john cena really is a weird villain. Oh, sure. He's fine. He's not a bad actor, but he has a lot more. Good guy fun guy vibe. Yeah. And you know, spoiler alert. surprises gonna happen. As he turns as the movie goes on. And he does it happens pretty late. But then when he kind of becomes the good guy. He's much better. Yeah, like, yeah, that's what he should have made that turn like an Act to the beginning or something. Because he is weird. Playing the villain. He plays the villain and Bumblebee as well. Yeah, it's not you haven't seen Bumblebee over the transfer. You haven't seen a single Transformers movie after the first one. But it's not. It's not a bay. I've heard bumblebees Good. Good, it is good. But the Oh, it was it was like watching a bad movie in a big theater with each book. There's, I don't know, maybe a dozen plus people in there. Five or six of us are laughing out loud at the absurdity that's going on on screen is so dumb that I'm like, going to the space thing isn't necessarily the dumbest thing done on that human shell. But I don't know, I haven't expected Fast and Furious to be anything other than a superhero movie since five. Once Once you accept cars driving down the middle of the road carrying what has to be tons of safes, swinging them around bashing into buildings and still going forward. You know what I'm done worrying about whether it's done or not as long and as long as it's still crazy fun. does need their rock scene is no the rock and it kind of feels like especially now that you're telling me he has a turn in it that they're trying to go Okay, so who's our next big muscle bound guy. And he is significantly larger. That would be nice. sprays, they, that van allowed them to shoot them standing next to each other. But I made it to theater finally. So that was that was wonderful. How is the theater experience outside of that? Oh, it's great. is the one of those cinemark 21. And over only oh good or so we're gonna pick chairs, in room or in seat service, so you don't have to get up and do anything. Yeah. So I have been watching and I'll bet you guys have not been watching Lisa's story on Apple TV. Yeah, Apple plus. I've got it. Right, not as something I need to watch. It looks really good. I think you might enjoy it, man. It's got a powerhouse cast. And it is based on a Stephen King novel. He wrote all of the episodes. I'm up to Episode Five now. And it it's kind of a complicated book, in that it's a very personal book for King and a lot of his readers don't like it. I really liked it. And the this is sticking pretty close to it. But it feels almost. It gets into kind of some fantasy stuff. It's good. It's got I mean, it's a real bad relationship between kids and their father. And then one of the kids becomes a writer. Oh, unusual story. Yes. He's got this place that he would go to visit to kind of get inspiration, you know, in his head, or maybe not as the show goes on further that he calls a hula moon, I believe I'm scared of this fantasy world where how all these artistic types can sit at this lake. And everybody has to be quiet and they get inspiration for things and all that stuff but just outside of this lake is is very bad thing that you do not want to get its attention. And meanwhile, he has died the writer has died now and his wife is trying to take care of all of all of that he's been dead for a year or something. And now there's a crazed fan who is stalking her because he wants the last of her husband's writings. And so it almost gets into some kind of Clive Barker type stuff of rally. Yeah, it's it's, I mean in the series, so far as much as I liked the book, I'm enjoying the series more Julianne Moore 501 Yeah, just you know, it's just really really solid. On a Stephen King Friday is very happy here. Dean has started reading the shining which he had never read. The only one I've read usually the only one if somebody read one. Usually that one that was my favorite novel for a long long time. Well much like you Eric I made it out to theater this week. I almost forgot and he started talking about your own experience. But I managed to check out the forever purge you know, I feel like the purge has done this really odd boomerang effect where it started off as this like kind of cool concept without a lot of money. And then they kind of flung it outwards and I think in the second one they spent more money and the third one way less money with less money and then it I guess I didn't say last one was more money and this one like is it feels like a decent amount of money they threw at this thing. It was pretty fun. Yeah, I was I was actually really surprised it had an inch I mean, the purge we all know the plot, but the way they played the characters against each other and against type and against expectation, and I thought worked pretty neatly. I feel like anytime I say it's gonna be good, though. It's gonna be something you'll hate Kelly. I already want to make a lot of the same movies. Just recently you have no but but purge kind of lost me with the TV series. I didn't say the TV series. The TV series started off released. Yeah. Wow. And after about six episodes? Oh, well. Question, Frank. Frank Grillo Is he in this one? No. Because he was two and three. And I like to I loved to Yeah, there's a lot of fun. Three I that's the one that politician Yes. Yeah, he did it. Yeah, no, this one. I can't even say who the cast is. I think there's one guy who is pretty recognizable. And everybody else is like, maybe I saw you in something one time. I'm not sure. The only downside about seeing forever perch honestly, was about 1520 minutes into the movie. It was the last screening the night, the theater suddenly flooded with people coming in. I was like, this is like a group of friends or family or something that have ditched or finished their film, and are like jumping in this one you could just tell. And they did not care. They're really sad. Like just talking and messing around. I was like, you guys have to fuck the right off please. Because this is Totem. Like, it's just the closest one to where I'm at. But it's a really nice theater. It's just that you know, people be people. Does the forever in the forever purge mean that the purge is no longer one night now? Correct. There's a group, a group that wants purge to continue onwards. And it It kind of feels like it becomes a little bit of a mix between a horror movie and disaster movie. It becomes this kind of more epic thing that's lost control. I think the problem with all of these sequels, especially when you get into a franchise like this, which only works a couple of times, right? Same thing with Friday the 13th or Halloween? You got to keep upping the ante. Yeah, where do you go from here? Well, from here now it's a reboot. Yeah. Which is probably I thought the last one they did was a prequel. So it was how the church started. Yeah, so they're already right. That's fine. That'll happen. Yeah, it's I mean, it's it can't go forever, like Paranormal Activity ran out eventually, too. I think. I don't know. I haven't checked Walmart lately, but I could fascinate you all with another tale of another Andy Mulligan movie but all Pass this time since I've done that enough. And this one has a similar damn storyline. He does that anymore again. So instead, we're just talking about a wild, short film that I was told about by a guy named Matt, who I used to work with at suncoast apparently started listening fan of a filmmaker, you might have met him at one time. But he recommended a short film by Fred Walton, which came out before when a stranger calls, friends, the director when a stranger calls, and when a stranger calls back. There's a 20 minute short film he made in 77, which, or somebody who's like thinking I was going to get an Oscar nomination or something for it. But it's the first 20 minutes of when a stranger calls lunches with different groups different I mean, it's not exactly the same. But if that's the story again, wow. And he improved it significantly. For the first Well, this is good, but it's like, I'm kind of, kind of, alright, you know, I've now seen this fairly well done twice. Let's see the same guy do it again. Third time, even if the first version he's done, is like, Okay, I know where you're going with this. And it's still pretty good, but gotta say when a stranger calls was a hell of a lot better. And but it's, it was neat. To have to have Matt entropy states, we gotta go check that out. And we may have to bug Matt about some other stuff, because he sent me some a link to one of his audio dramas he put together pretty good. Oh, for any good sound that we have talked about putting together not a drama. All three of us, actually. Yes, that's right. I think I have a box of equipment. Right. Three different homes now. And everyone's want to look at you and you being the box of equipment and go one day, one day, we will upgrade significantly. That was originally center. soundboard here and all that stuff would probably work better than what I say. Well, cool. That's cool. Hi, Matt. I think I do remember Matt, actually. But Matt is also one of those names where I have like six friends named Matt. Yeah, there's not as such a prolific. He usually goes by I should say, probably usually goes by Matthew. That helps. Well, okay, why don't we take a little break? We are going to be talking about Charles band films coming up. So we'll do that. Right after this. commercial break. By the way, before we take this commercial break, okay. Yes. I just want to say, Eric, I don't say it often enough. Eric. curates all the commercials that you hear in between our breaks. No, we are not getting paid by that Milton Bradley game. Or whatever it is this time, no, anything like that. Yeah. And I just I'm always as surprised as anyone elses. And like, I get why you did this. It's always on topic, and I really appreciate it. So kudos. Yeah. Yeah. All right. We'll be right back. Hi, I'm Charles band and responsible for tons of empire and full moon movies you probably rented at your local video store over the years, and I'm sure some of them freak you out as a kid. Of these like ghoulies reanimator. Troll, the puppet masters series and more recently evil bond with Tommy Chong, and the gingerbread man starring Gary Busey as a crazy pissed off cookie. Well the bummer is your local video store is long gone. And so is blockbuster Hollywood video tower. There are basically no more video rental stores left in this country. And that's why we created full moons. We are back. Vanessa I know this is kind of your topic because mica requested it but I realized that there might be some people out there who don't know who Charles band is right? Yes, you probably might want might know is still know his movie, but you may not know you might not realize the man the legacy that is so I grabbed a little bit of information from Wikipedia. Charles ban birthday December 27 1951. Born in Los Angeles kid Happy birthday is got a lot of gifts that were happy birthday. Merry Christmas, Charles. Yeah. His highest rated film on Rotten Tomatoes at 93% every enemy, but he was just a producer, right? his lowest rated at 0% his terror vision from 1986. But I will call bullshit Yes, because that movie should at least have a one or 2%. He has several other 0% Films mostly made in the last 15 years. Oh. his bio reads this way. A pioneer in the field of home video band has built a reputation as a prolific and fairly reliable producer and frequent director of entertaining low budget genre films, beginning in 1973, with the erotic comedy last Foxtrot in Burbank, featuring Sally Maher, mother of celebrated comic, Lenny Bruce, and has produced a string of features variously delving into the realms of horror, sci fi and fantasy. Many of these were met with mainstream critical disdain, and spotty regional releases. detecting the potential goldmine and the explosion of the direct to video market and the omnipresent programming demands of cable in the late 1980s. band formed Full Moon entertainment, a marketing and production entity designed to release modestly budgeted brand name fantasy movies directly to video stores without the utricle release. Paramount Pictures was one who handled the video distribution. I think that's about all we really need to know. And we'll get into some personal stuff as we get into our movies. I imagine if at the end, you'll find him fascinating. Confessions of a puppet master book by Charles ban autobiography coming out this fall. pre order now on Amazon, which they paid, but anyways, yeah, he's sort of the shorthand would be is kind of a Roger Corman Lloyd Kaufman. kind of guy. Sure. But anyways, without the the seeming love they have for the genre. Yeah. Interesting. Interesting. So Vanessa, would you like to start us off? Yeah, absolutely. So um, yeah. So this is kind of what we're doing for for my week, because thank you so much mica for yet again, supporting the show. We really, really appreciate it. And this is how we show such appreciation by torturing ourselves. I think I lucked out here. I I decided to go with a Charles man movie that is more well known just because I have never seen it. And it was one of those movies that I had heard on the playground as kid like, really sounded freaky, and the poster really made me nervous and I was terrified of what the hell his movie was. And that is 1989 puppet master. In a house of mysteries, so tell seems to find a history. Are you people, a research team with special powers? He's experiencing the past cars we are all joined by our thoughts. has uncovered an ancient secret and something I want to show you metaphysically speaking I killed myself. But they are playing with an evil force. With the power you can't save. They have given life to a deadly power. And now a box of little toys. As they come a gang of little terror in head play Ms. Leach. Jester and tunneler Irene miracle all the maps, Barbara Crampton and William Hickey as the Puppet Master, I assume you both have seen Oh yeah. Yeah, you've probably this big Independence Day as you take one of the good ones. Yeah, yeah. You really did. Yeah. Yeah. This one has a Rotten Tomato score of 43%. from critics and 40% from audience and having having just freshly washed it. I kind of get that. I do kind of get that we'll get more into that later. budget of $400,000 box office of God knows what do not actually play in theaters. So there is no boxoffice length of 90 minutes and then I wrote all this stuff about Charles band which does not matter because you already talked about him. Oh well shit well what you're gonna he does however have a full moon streaming service and full moon Amazon channel. So he's really depend on out there into streaming world. The writer for puppet master is of course also Charles band, but you can also include Kenneth J. Hall, who is listed also as an additional writer. He is also a special effects guy as well as a writer he has 19 special effects credits and 17 writing credits. Um, he did movies as recent as Willie as Willie's wonderlands Oh, wow, I know and the upcoming Amityville moon, he also created jack for jack frost, and he was part of the crew who did critters and of course he was on ghoulies one and two as far as writing his stuff is definitely a little more do not know what the heck this stuff is. The only one that sounded vaguely familiar was nightmare sisters. But his early stuff includes the tomb evil spawn Tara night and Dr. Alien, director and screenplay writer who is he's written down funnily enough, the director David Smolar is credited on the credits for screenplay as Joseph G. Khiladi. And I don't know what that's all about. I couldn't find anything on it other than maybe he just didn't want to have a writing and directing credit and that was like a little bit, Mickey. But of course, we've come across David smaller before because he directed tourist trap. Right, right. Yeah, exactly. Unfortunately, now he mostly does shorts. It's sad. I really liked his I really liked his movie about traps and tours. This is starring a bunch of people who mostly are not known, however, names we might know William Hickey, as Andre Toulon, the puppet master. He's in the flashbacks. As the old guy who animates the puppets to life. We would know him from National Lampoon's Christmas vacation Nightmare Before Christmas, where he voices the evil scientist and what I know him best from Tales from the dark side in Cat From Hell segment, old man in the wheelchair, claiming the cat is evil. The only other person who really had much of a credit was Irene miracle who plays a woman named Dana she is one of the psychics. There are several psychics in this movie, and she was in Inferno for a hot second. Yes, that Inferno. And then Jimmy f Skaggs as Neil Gallagher, who basically is the body in the body use like Weekend at Bernie's body where it's kind of just hearing multiple positions throughout the film. He's been in 77 things, all bit roles, including, quote unquote career and Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV show, why no and hollow man and his final role before he passed away in 2004, as norm the mechanic in the TV series monk. So really Bahman cast here. The story is, um, it's pretty, I don't know, it's pretty neat. It's got a nice little twist on on the the doll, the horror genre. We start off with an old man in the 1920s he's surrounded by his puppets and the mob are coming for him. Don't know why. He has a puppet on the loose that's kind of skittering around this really fancy estates. The man is able to kind of see through this puppets eyes and he knows that the mob is coming for him. So he's kind of looking around at his puppets and shoving them into little locked away locations and going Don't worry, it'll be alright, some good to save you all. And then as soon as the mob knocks on his door to off him, it seems he is that an chair with a gun in his mouth and he blows his brains out. So many years later, we have four psychics that were introduced to they're part of this sort of group of moose friends like us, and they're contacted by this guy named Neil Gallagher. The psychic characters are Alex Who's this sort of crazy haired professor who dreams of stuff that will later come true. Dana, who is this very bold brash, swear swearing and no no holds bar no bars hold. I don't know what that statement no bars whole go with it people and she told Though she is making a living working on the beach reading crystal balls extremely poorly. But what she really does is practice a lot of different kind of Voodoo style things. Then we have Krista, who is able to see the history of things by touching them. So she can she can touch a car and know everybody who's been in that car, she can touch a bed and know everyone who's fucked in this bed, as we will see in this movie, definitely. And then we have a friend who's there, kind of fourth wheel friend. He's good at research and has no psychic abilities, but he's hanging out with them anyway. So Google, for free, Google did not read his last name down. And they each have a vision, some of their own deaths, that shows to them that they need to go and hang out their friend, Neil. So they travel out to this place called Bodega Bay, which is the really fancy estate we saw the beginning where Neil resides in that old puppet master home, they arrived to find that he has died, he's committed suicide and his wife, Megan is now running the home. Neil, however, is instructed in a note attached to his body that he not be buried until they arrive. So he's just kind of hanging out in the casket. And the researchers have kind of an interesting relationship with him. Neil was apparently trying to figure out how the puppet master raised puppets. Originally, he's been working with this idea that Egyptians were able to animate inanimate figures. And he was working with all of these other psychics to try and figure out how but then he basically ghosted them and they were like, Okay, well, fuck you, dude. I guess you're just going to steal all of our work and try to live off of the riches of animating stuff, I guess. And so they have come to quote unquote, settle the score. Do not know why. They're all having dreams. They're going to die. And they're like, Oh, well, we'll come to this place and hang out and I'm fine. Don't worry about it. Great. We're going to have revenge. I don't anyways, doesn't matter. Dana, who is the one who does the Voodoo stuff, immediately feels danger in this place and tries to cleanse it. chrissa just kind of has sex with the house and frame as well. She just goes into different places and is enjoying the memories of the sexy sexy times there. Alex, who has the big hair, talks a lot to the wife Megan and tries to get a sense of what's happening here. And of course, there are some living dolls running around the place. We know this this first when Teresa, the maid is killed by pinhead. Not that and it is a small head on a big body with human hands in a classy burnt yellow sweater. She's murdered with poker then Frank and Chris, of course get it when they're getting it on. When a drill headed puppet named tunneler in erupts and then attacks chrissa when she looks underneath the bed to figure out what is going on underneath. drilling into her head. Frank, of course is tied up and blindfolded. And he's like, Hey, baby, where'd you go? When a female puppet gets up on him starts kissing on his chest. He's like, yeah, girl, I knew you wanted more. And then she pukes leeches on him and they suck his blood out and he dies. So you're kind of making the sound a lot better than that. Remember that movie being? I mean, the puppets are pretty cool and very dumb. But also like stop motion. Yeah, so that's pretty cool. That is that? Yeah, they actually look pretty effective. Like I don't know how they manage puppets for other dole movie for things. But these ones they don't know they work pretty well. Like they do seem to have their own little bit of personality, which I enjoyed a lot. So of course, Dana, one of the only two psychics left alive, discovers the deceased meal. The guy who got them all there in the first place is sat in her bedroom, in a chair holding a nice glass of scotch, and he's dead. He's not moving. He's just sitting there and she's like, I knew it. You fooled everyone else. You didn't fool me. You're not dead, but you're going to be dead now. And she does some Voodoo on him. thinks that she's eradicated the soul from the body or whatever it is that's going on with Neil. But of course, the dolls come out and attack her from around the room including pinhead who twists wrangles and blade who ends up splitting her throat. Meanwhile, that leaves Alex he's the only one left. And of course he's having this ongoing nightmare of meal like trying to shoot a girl and maybe that girl is Megan has his wife has the hottie hottie wife who's running this house and he he's kind of running into her and maybe they have a thing it's hard to tell and not really sure a lot of people dying. And he, he has this dream that Neil is pulling a gun on Megan. And then he has another nightmare followed directly after that where his friends heads are dead underneath his bed covers. Then, of course, he's woken up by Megan again who plays out the first nightmare, or second or third beat by beat, except instead of bringing him to Neal, who is going to shoot her and then she shows him shows him Toulon diary, the guy who's the original and Puppet Master, where he's written down his secret to reanimation. And of course, all shit hits the fan. Neil kind of guides Alex downstairs by giving him a premonition that go downstairs discover all the dead bodies, and then it's the puppets and Neil versus the two remaining humans that are there. And unfortunately for Neil, kind of pisses off the puppets. He's a little too brash with them keeps talking about how they're worthless and useless. And basically, he's done playing with these dumb toys. And of course, insult them by saying he's, they're nothing but qinling. And he's going to put them on the fire later, which means they attack him, allowing Alex and Megan to get away. The dolls are pretty fun. Yeah, characters, the individual character traits super fun, like there's and there's a really good little scenes here and there. I really like what's going on with that. It's cheap as fuck. But overall, like the dolls are just really kind of neat. And I do like the doll POV where like, you have this really cheap Oh, like breathing and like skittering sounds, but somehow that just really sells it for me, or it's like, it's fun. Charmy it's really charming. Ironically, there, the 400 Grant has got to be one of the largest budgets I've ever heard of him working with, I'm sure. And I'm sure it was all spent on this huge location, probably the interiors and the puppet design. Because there's a lot of Puppets in here, there's probably about six or seven different puppet designs, and they each do things. So it's not just a matter of like, Oh, it's like running across the floor. It's like one of them has the drill that's going on the top of his head as was running across the floor. and other such thing, like one of them has three parts of their head that spins around in different directions. So there's definitely a lot of interesting mechanics going along. The things I don't like about this, the acting is pretty bad. Really not great. Um, the plot is really predictable. You can kind of figure out exactly what's going to happen in the next five minutes with whatever it is you're looking at right then. I'm not really sure why but at some point near the end when the puppets are attacking Neal, Alex is like trying to save him and I can't work out why. I'm like, just want to die. Like he's literally trying to murder you and he's already dead. What are you trying to save him for? It's fine. And then the end doesn't really tell you what happens to the puppets. It's a really weird ending with a kind of a wink and a nod but not about the puppets. It's more of a wink and a nod about Megan because her dead dog comes alive. And she's like, come on biscuit come and play or whatever. So I don't they don't even address it. They're like, yeah, we made it out. And then, but we're still in this house. And now we're giving each other hug goodbye. And everything's fine. And I'm like, Where did the puppets go? You didn't burn them? You didn't lock them up somewhere? And we don't know. Anyway, that's fine. Um, fun trick. You should watch the sequel. I guess. I guess I have to watch but one of the all nine of them. Yeah. I have written down six or five, five sequels including note six, including two, three toolings revenge for five the final chapter and six Curse of the puppet master and your puppet master the new legacy in 2003. So obviously, like last year or two, as Craig zahler wrote it. Oh, sure. Okay, it says in 2020 20 a spin off focusing on the puppet blade was released blade the Iron Cross and then in 2021 a film about Dr. Death, it says will be released. So I wonder if that's what came out? Yeah, cuz blade did whatever that really well. I mean, for a charm. Right, right. Um, so, um, fun things about this film trivia was Barbara Crampton is in it for like, two minutes as the woman at the carnival who gets tricked by Dana at the crystal ball and it's pretty, it's pretty good. It's a good scene where she's like, what, tell me about my future. And Dana's like, yeah, you're gonna get married. It's gonna be great. What Tell me about my husband, is he ever going to get a job? She looks over her boyfriend. He's like, just some schmuck. And Dana's like, Yeah, he's gonna, he's gonna be rich. He's gonna be working in fashion and she's like, in fashion. He Have a degree That's impossible. She's like, Oh, I'm sorry, I misread this. It's in. He's actually gonna work in construction and that's gonna become a fashion building and then he's gonna become rich. And she's like, Oh, well, it's very, very good. The film was inspired by an earlier Charles band production about killer toys named dolls. Is that right? Well, Stuart Gordon. Yeah, that's why it's again Okay. Yeah, I was like, I'm pretty sure so I think he was in I think this was a mistake. And that it was through recordings dolls, who's inspired by title came from the fact that so many people loved dungeon master a different film of his, so he decided to go for it again with puppet master. Very clever, very clever, sir. The Puppet blade design is based on one of David smaller the directors. favorite actors. Klaus Kinski. Looks like him. Yeah. I was like, the blade puppet required five puppeteers to operate, just kind of passing pinheads fist during the punching scenes. So pinheads, the little head big, big hands, human hands guy. So of course, the punching scenes are actually the fists of a dwarf stunt woman, Cindy Sorenson, who had to wear the same fingerless gloves and sweater sleeve to make it appear that it's the fist of pinhead. Cindy cited the most difficult part of these scenes was to keep her head ducked the whole time while holding the pinhead puppet on her shoulders and give off false punches. At the same time, there's a finger slicing scene at some point in this movie, and the blood that comes out was dyed green. And it is like this bright kind of toxic e green looking situation. And they did that to avoid the ex raiding. The Bodega Bay hotel is the big beautiful manner that we keep looking at was actually a miniature. It was built about the size of a refrigerator. And when the filmmakers found a perfect location, they hung the model in the air and use a combination of forced perspective in a way to make the hotel appear like it was actually they're on the cliff side. I love shit like that is amazing. They're just hovering this thing over. It's so good. The tagline for this movie is killers come in all sizes. It was originally intended to be released in theaters in the summer of 89 and onto home video in September 89. But it was pushed to October of 89 as a direct to video release, as producer Charles band has stated is in an interview that he thought he would make more money in the direct to TV field rather than in the theatrical market. So I don't know if that's the case or not. But that explains why there was no box office 1989 he knew that market very well. Yeah, yeah, that's kind of that was the sense I was getting to puppet master was released on VHS by Paramount Home Video in September 92 and DVD in 2000. Via Full Moon home video. In 1999. An interview with horror movie website the terror trap director David Smolar admitted the reason he was not involved with the rest of the puppet master series, aside from a character credit was that it would reveal someone else besides Full Moon CEO Charles band was responsible for the creation of full moons biggest franchise. smuggler was never ever approached to do a director's commentary for the first puppet master movie when it arrived onto DVD. In the same interview, he also mentioned that band still owed him for residuals. So yeah, so that was my pick. Remember, last week when I said it's got to be directed by Charles band, or directed or written. Yeah, there you go. I did go either directing or de Lis line is my pick. It's my week, you get to dictate this search. And go I just did I know and I know exactly where it is going next. Okay, I you know what, I'll go next because I think you've got a personal story to tell. Sure. There's so much to choose from so much shit in this toilet. I chose I actually reached out to everybody Craig Mullins and said, Hey, I need some help. Now you told me your favorites of this guy and he he qualified it by saying well, I really like this one metal storm you know when that's a Craig movie and I can read between the lines and I was like okay, so I will hate that what I said. And he pointed me in the direction of Dr. Madrid. In a Manhattan apartment. I stood guard between our world and the Dark Dimension. Now, after centuries of heroes Ultimate Warrior has arrived. It is indeed uses more or less to doing his meeting. What difference does it make if I want this dying planet? a sorcerer is not a God was coming to music man's gonna die. Dr. Morton, Master of the unknown. I remember the cover of this one, but I don't think I've ever seen it. I've definitely seen it. Yeah, I was like, Damn, Kelly picked it. I have to say I did kinda like this. Yeah. It's so hard. It feels like Yeah. 1992. Eric, if you thought that $400,000 budget was high, you're going to be shocked to learn that this cost about $2 million. Wow. Impressive. No box office because it was direct to video course. Which also means there was no Rotten Tomatoes critic, but the audience score has it at 35% which I thought was a little harsh. IMDb has a 5.6 so it sits up there with every other movie on IMDB. There's their skills at a time, right? No, no, no. 100 Yes. But it's theoretically every movie sits at about 5.2 to 6.2 is they just take it off. It's ridiculous. It's stupid. I watched this on TV. So it is available to watch for free. Right. Directed by Charles band Oh, my God. He directed crash with an exclamation point at the end of it. So not hysteria with an exclamation point. hideous with an exclamation point behind it. And 65 other films without exclamation points. Now there's a little bit of a cheat on this because it was co directed by Albert band. Why is the father of Charles and Richard band Richard band being the composer? Wow. Alex band who Micah complained about from the calling is the son of Charles band so the family is his family bear in on this horrible shit. Albert bando has directed a couple of legit films that I like anyway, Dracula's dog. ghoulies, too. And Robot Wars, among many others. All right. Written by Charles band and see Courtney Joyner, who wrote the class of 1999, the lurking fear, and one of my very favorite discovery movies of the last decade, prison. At some point, I'm going to pick a topic where I can talk about the movie prison. Starring Jeffrey combs. Yeah, 138 credits, including all of the animators reanimator movies from beyond The Frighteners Deep Space Nine voice work on a ton of animated series including HB hate graft on two episodes of Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated. It also stars if at New par, mostly TV stuff, including 21 Jump Street, the adventures of brisco County Jr. and the Robocop TV series. She was the female cop in that oh, I tried watching an episode of that was that it was bad. Oh, it is also SARS. J Yes, this name is at javaone or H ivam. So much TV It's ridiculous. 108 episodes of search for tomorrow. 55 episodes of Beauty and the Beast episodes of The Mentalist leverage the lethal weapon series that has just recently been on he's still working. And Brian Thompson, you would know him as the knight slasher in Cobra, the power lifter in Miracle Mile. He's the guy with the heavily scarred face. And he was the judge in Buffy but in my research, I just found out he is from ellensburg. Washington. Right. I feel like I knew that he's amazing. I saw him a cryptic on and gave me a very nice. So this story. Combs plays Anton Madrid, who is a wizard. We're learning all of this very, very quickly. He's been sent to Earth by being called the monitor to stop the evil wizard cabal from opening the gate to hell. Now the monitor is played by a couple of eyes just floating in the cosmos. It looks really cheap. I was trying to figure out if I could find out who was cast as the monitor. Nothing. It's all very boy. I find out pretty quickly that cabal needs the philosopher's stone and several other elements to complete a spell and open the gate and unleashes demons from the fourth dimension. third dimension that's the fourth dimension. That's the eighth thing I mentioned as Bucky. They're all accounted for right now running out of dimension. So we've we've still, we're still basically in the preamble of the series or the movie, and Mordred has been watching for signs of cabals presence for about 150 years. And as the time of their prophesized battle approaches. Now, this movie Mordred, has assumed the role of a criminal psychologist, where he is helping Samantha hunt, a research consultant to the police, he also in a very weird situation lives in the same big huge building as her. And then we will find out he owns the building and is the landlord. So he has detected productive murdered, detected a series of thefts of the elements that cabal is seeking. And so he starts searching, he's realizing we're seeing this kind of play out over the movie, but he notices that this one magical artifact is stolen. And then the next one, it pretty quickly is like shit. It is on now this is exactly the ingredients for this spell the open the the gates of hell. And so he's start searching for him. And then he starts kind of using Samantha, because she's, of course working all of these thefts. And she is very suspicious of him. And so she starts kind of trying to insinuate herself into his life. She's understandably intrigued when she like goes up to feel that she hears something like on his apartment door, and she she goes to feel the door and it's burning hot. So she calls the fire department and the fire department all shows up, and they're about to knock down the door and, and Margaret opens it and everything's fine inside. She's like, Oh, I thought you must be burning to death. It's hardly. And he lets her inside and appears that his apartment is an entire floor or something. But kudos to the set designer. This this movie actually looks like it was shot on film. It looks like they spent a ton of money on the locations and the sets and all that stuff because his place looks like you would expect Dr. Strange's Sanctum Sanctorum to look and you don't even have to imagine it because we have Dr. Strange movies. And we've seen what the Sanctum Sanctorum looks like. That would probably cost a little more here, which is all green screen. So Meanwhile, in the magic dimension, where the gate is being closely guarded by other good wizards, cabal shows up and proceeds to just very easily throw a real beat down on them and opens the gate. There are no survivors, but one is lying there, you know, half dead when suddenly more dread finally shows up. And he's the fuck man. You guys are supposed to be guarding this gate and the survivor confirms that cabal came in kicked our asses, and now you get to deal with bullshit. So Mordred returns to Earth to prepare his defenses. As soon as he gets there. One of the other cops that's working on the case with Samantha, she he has more drugs arrested. Because Mordred knows way too much about these crimes that are going on, and somebody was killed at one of them. And so Mordred has been arrested for murder. And Samantha's there trying to you know, no, no, no, can't do this. He's helping me and, and the cops like, you know, well. Looks like he pulled one over sweetheart. So she has to help him escape in a truly silly scene, where Mordred will certainly be arrested for all sorts of assault when the cops find him again. And all sorts of magic being caught on camera and just ridiculous stuff. I kind of was almost checking out after this. But luckily, there's not much left to this ship. In the final showdown, cabal and more dread do battle at the Cosmopolitan museum with cabal animating the gigantic Tyrannosaurus skeleton. And this is all done with motion again. And it looks great. I mean, it looks like stop motion. But I think that there is a real charm that if you are of a certain age, you see that and you're just like, you know, I fucking love the amount of work that had to go into this. It's so much more interesting looking than, say a dinosaur fighting Sherlock Holmes that's I only have a couple of poses for my bad. Yeah, so this doesn't look any more real than that. But it looks fun, fun and cool, you know, and there's something inherently creepy in the way that stop motion features move. You're also I think it really works in horror films. I don't really want to give away the ending, but it's not like it's gonna be a big surprise. Mordred saves the day he ends up he ends and I thought I would a guy a gigantic mastodon or woolly mammoth skeleton or something and skewers him on the on the tusks best ending ever, with a real best ending ever. Because I'm like, boy, there's gonna be a lot of shit that you're gonna have to explain here to the cops at No, because the monitor shows up his eyes do at least he's like, it's time for you to come back. No reason for you to be here on earth. And he has the tearfully say goodbye to Samantha who's gotten a crush on him and Who wouldn't? It's a young Jeffrey calm. Yeah, so charmed. Yes. I have a little bit of trivia here. But kids don't believe everything you read because the first thing on IMDB here says this movie was originally conceived as an adaptation for the Marvel comic character Dr. Strange, also known as a supreme sorcerer, somewhere along the way, the rights to the name were lost. And the script was retooled, which is how they could make it R rated. Eventually it was adapted in a dr. strange 2016. That's what I had always heard about. Well, yes, but this was not adapted, then to Dr. Strange Oh, 16 Oh, and it's a little bit different than that. So Charles band held an option for an adaptation of Dr. Strange, but the option expired before production could even begin. So instead of scrapping the project, the script was entirely rewritten to include original characters, not from the college property, the main character may actually have been called Dr. mortalis. And when I looked into this, I find all of this very interesting concept art by one jack Kirby, that he pitched to Empire pictures. Oh, okay. So you look at that. And Kirby art looks suspiciously like Dr. Strange. But he's got like this cool egg head that's like literally a gigantic egg headed thing that's kind of floating in this table. You know, Kirby was doing all sorts of cool shit and doing stuff for films and all that, too. So I think that what happened was that this was probably pitched to Empire. Charles ban was like, Oh, wait a second. I mean, this is cool. But you know, it's 1992 or something I'm sure we can get the rights to to Dr. Strange himself. And so this copy get Roger Corman got fantastic, for sure. So then he lost the option. And remember you guys an option is not owning the rights an option is you have the right to try and make something at some point, I'm fairly certain Marvel would have stepped in and said, Well, I guess if this was 2 million that was probably about the the budget for that fantasy four. Right. So they were probably okay with that. But if it had been, you know, a puppet master budget, they would have said now, yeah. So your options are designed to run out you get sick every year. Exactly. So one other little bit of trivia this one for you, Vanessa, Jeffrey combs and Brian Thompson from ellensburg. Washington, are well known in the Star Trek universe, guest starring in multiple episodes. Both guest starred in the same episode of Star Trek Enterprise as commander Schramm, and Admiral Valdez. I wonder what aliens they were in that one? They I mean, I mean, I didn't know about enterprise in Star Trek long before Oh, enterprise is not worth watching. For the Love It is hard. like three or four episodes. Nevermind Yeah, I tried many times and I love Scott bacula but no the those two are recurring recurring Star Trek people and I love all their all their skins all their version. I will say this I thought this movie was pretty decent. I thought a 35% was really rough. And I'm trying to think what was going on in 92 that horror fans were that picky? I guess we were getting. Not much Dracula. Not really blows Dracula, though. I mean, it's fantasy. And I think that that is probably what turns people on the creators of puppet master Comm. Dr. Majid, I thought that this had a really cool style to it. And it actually felt to me like it was part of the Old 40s movie cereal or something like that? I I am flabbergasted that there is not a sequel to this one. There are so many sequels to all the other movies, and I can only imagine that the poor reception is what killed that? Maybe. Huh? That's my mother was like I'm not coming back for this yo. I will say that my new he is forced into a a very bad sorceress supreme type outfit. It's very much like Steve decos Doctor Strange outfit, so kind of a blue puffy shirt. tights and it's awkward. Yeah, I do remember that being very awkward, but tough to be too much of a badass. Yeah, definitely. And you know, in Jeffrey combs isn't like a tall guy. And Brian Thompson is Sue's a little bit weird at times. Like, maybe? Yeah, the visuals. Okay, well, I'll start off my movie about when we ran into Charles band back in 2000. Something when we were I have not heard the story with her film. I think it was five probably. Yeah, I think it was on the doorstep. We were down at Dragon Con in Atlanta. And he had a panel just him talking about. He was supposed to be like independent filmmaking in the future of filming. So this is 2005 This is the death of things like blockbuster suncoast all the video outlets and this not quite replacement level of streaming. So he was a bitter angry, angry man. Yeah, it was really discouraging, depressing. Terrible. Probably one of the most fucked in the world. Buck films. Fuck anybody who wants to make films. I'm never making another dollar as long as I live. Like my baby figured everything out. You're gonna figure streaming out is right what I was thinking, but boy, he did not think he was. And later on. I'd already had a thing to get subspecies. They had a box set of the subspecies movies which are kind of the ones I like to get it signed at the top he's a I must have said something about me filmmakers he wrote. Good luck. Lucky going after that panel. I don't think this is good luck. I want I think I remember telling you in that panel, because it wasn't something like I I didn't think it was a future that I thought it was is traveling Full Moon picture show or there was something different. This was actually a panel, he does a full entertainment thing where it brings people out and they do like a five SHOT Show. But I just remember saying to you that this guy thinks he should be making a bunch of money on a bunch of shitty movies. And he never seemed to take into account that if he made good movies, he might make some money. Right? Yep. So yeah. Well, if my pick is any indication, he continue down the road of not giving a shit. I'm moving from 2007 so fairly close. hunted casino or dead man's hand. Since one man has inherited unbold casino, Franco dragna I guess I'm his only son. What do you do? I think it'd be a cool place to hang out. But some legacies will not be forgotten. The anniversary of the Mr. massacre. Five people were killed here that night. Wasn't mob guy named Roy Donahue. He wants revenge because your uncle whacked that deal. I'm the last surviving one. What they soon discover are phantoms of the past 40 years ago he did me wrong, I O and they've returned to collect an old debt. It's not a very good idea to make me angry. All you got to do is wait. But in this casino, all bets are off. We need to leave right now. You also inherited those debts to collect. The price of fortune. Is your soul. Just like the house. Dead Man's CD The dead man's hand casino of the dam I have never heard of this same The reason for that. No rotten tomatoes on this was zero. Well, no no credit. No critics that show at a 23 which is astoundingly generous. I would not to offer that. Oh my god, there's one scene that I might give that three four. Anyways, I like that you did a whole bunch Charles BAM Chris got so many we did not pick the same ones. This is directed by Charles man who made Raven wolf towers. Gingerbread Man vs Evil bomb at all shout out to others. It was written by Dominic your who wrote critters. Dangerous worry dolls and evil bomb to King bomb. Oh my god. Why? No Evil Dead. Evil bomb apparently was a big hit because it is at least two sequels. Starring Wes Armstrong, who you might know from Jane The Virgin. He was on 22 episodes of that. And something called backstage pass and a whole lot of TV. Michael Berryman who you probably do know if you don't have eyes Weird Science Devil's rejects Christian green who is in devil dolls. Evil Vaughn Carver so we've got like three of the evil Bond movies represented here and said hey, who is in bone? hamaca Diamonds Are Forever and I did not realize he was in THX 11380 I didn't know that. He's listed. I'm guessing he probably is like it when it shows up. Yeah. Movie begins with two people checking out an old casino a lady who I don't know who the hell she is. And a caretaker. He looked around with a flashlight for a good three minutes nothing happening. Looks like a relatively modern casinos. I don't know when this is supposed to take place. It might have been a casino from the 70s or 80s. I don't know. Oh, a cat jumpscare. We're in the hands of a master now folks. Going on five minutes of looking around. Oh, he's gotten to the main room and some urinals and splattered blood. Now the lady is following in his footsteps wandering around looking for things. Eight minutes into a 72 minute movie the credit start to roll can make it a full 10 minutes. So that was the opening to people wandering through the casino with flashlights one of them gets killed. Anyways, so now we go to a group of I might notes are vague because well anyway. So we go to a group of people who are obviously it kind of looks like he wrote this in the 80s, maybe a whole bunch of like, hey, let's hang out and go to the casino. Turns out you find out one of the guys has inherited this. Oh, apparently. And starts off with the romantic scene of getting to meet the two of them. And then the two people that are next to them. And then for some reason, there's like a rock star guy or want to be rock star guy and his girlfriend and he's impotent. But he doesn't want anybody to know. So they pretend to have sex like five or six times in the movie. No nudity in the movie, just people pretending to have sex. My favorite. Man, the music is odd. It's sort of a lullaby bad romance movie, at least for this start of this film. And it goes on many times. So you hear this weird music several times. And then they get into the casino. And there's a scene where the lady is trying to show how she's really good at counting cards is the worst example of counting cards I've ever seen. No, really, you've got a two and a three that the dealer's got at kinkos. Like how do you know the deal is both down cards? Well, this is what's coming next. I mean, you've dealt five cards. So anyways, the trying to find the composer of it because it's a district 78 plus the composer for this movie. Wow. All right. Let's see. So it's time to clean up the casino. They get tired and they all take naps. They have bad dreams. And somehow they're all walled into the casino all the doors have been brick shut and all the windows of bricks as well. And the hard to argue line of the movie. It's not his fault if this place is haunted. It's not the fault of the guy who had them come in there. Exactly. All right. And I kind of think bad really wants to dramatic what start to drag on dramas are something he puts so much more effort. In any of the scenes with two people talking about the relationship, you could tell this is where he directed. This is where he gave a shit. Like, the angles are better, the acting's better, the lighting is better. It serves to remind me of this horrible callback to very proud of a movie called murder set pieces, which is awful. But the scenes where somebody is getting killed, are incredibly well done. And everything else looks like a bad used car commercial. And so I think you think he really wants to branch off and do dramas or something because those scenes actually were relatively well done. He could just jump on to like lifetime, they go higher, and he has experience. Yeah. What more do they need? But like the opening scene with the two people talking about the river? That was I was good. Okay, maybe this isn't going to be so bad. Right? Well, I was wrong. Anyways, okay. Why I would give it a three favorite part of the movie is the slot girl ghost, because they keep running into like, solid people that are supposed to be ghosts haunting the place, because some shit went down. And the guy who owned it had silver hidden someplace, and he killed people. Anyways. So she has slot machine eyeballs. So she comes out. And when I go through, like, I got a cool, not a great effect. But it's a cool idea. Were they CGI? Or were they How are they? How did she get the? Does anybody know? Do you guys know what it means? When they say dead man's hand? No. aces and eights. It was the hand that ship forgot his name one of the major gun bits Catholic? No, it wasn't. He was shot in the back playing poker. And he was holding eighth as an eight. So it became that man's hand. And so they make sort of a reference to that at some point like I I couldn't tell if Sid Haig was directed to act annoyed with everybody at every time or if he really was just annoying. Everybody he was working with ed ed and said show up. They're both good. They're both good on screen. They've got their natural chemistry their pros, and they're fine, no matter who's directing them. They're usually just fine. And they were good in this. So anyways, let's see trivia and sheer terror. bet on it. I do like that. Every game ends in sudden death. That's fine. as they're going through the movie, they're sitting at casino tables at various times and they go say, hey, you want to make a bet? Suddenly, they're handcuffed to the table and they have to do something if it doesn't go well, like their arm gets chopped off. Yeah, that's about how much I thought about it. And from Wikipedia wiki, Wikipedia. Someone is insane. Because they wrote in the vein of the shining, this horrifying tale builds to a bloody and surprising climb back now, Charles Bandra. He is a promotional. I will give him that. And oh, here's how the excitement was a finding notes on that. I made this note. I wish IMDb would separate video games from the actors list. It kind of deserves its own category, especially since so many movies are based on video games nowadays. I should have got back, even if I talked about it before because I did a bunch of trivia and stuff for subspecies and watch maybe 20 some odd minutes of it and realize I'm pretty sure I've talked about this before or I feel like I want to watch something new. I should have gotten back to his old catalogue. When he kind of gave me shit. Yeah. I don't know. Maybe he does again now because he's still making movies. But that this was right in that wheelhouse of time. I was talking about 2005 I'm moving in 2007. So I would leave this off. You're watching this for Charles band movies he's got What do you say? 6568 68 there's plenty of other stuff to watch this one. This is the single worst film I've ever talked about audition. Wow. That's actually saying that is thing a lot. I mean, this is the angriest review. There's bad and entertaining which you all know I love now but yeah. This was this felt like this felt like somebody's not giving a shit. Yeah. And putting it on screen. Yeah. And I know I'm bummed for you because In 68 films, there's probably a lot of films that are at least fun. Yeah, and you didn't love puppet master but you it was okay. Yeah, it was fun for sure. It was a good 40% I haven't seen demonic you go. Yeah, I haven't seen demonic toys that gotta watch demonic toys. I don't know if I've seen dollar man. Oh man, what is this deal with? Y'all man, but I remember liking that first transfers. I did. I did. I did do that for something. Okay, I want to represent them. Yeah, that was solid. Sure. Good to watch the sequel. Would I guarantee you would have been better? I almost did dragons world or whatever. No, that sounded very stupid, but very good. Well, after I finished Dr. Margaret, I started metal storm just to see like that it is definitely a Craig. Craig give it a go. Right. What do you think of haunted casino? Well, okay. Mike, I hope that that we never have to do another Charles ban. retrospective, please. Yeah, you know, we ended the Kurt Russell and the land center glance at Lance and, and we both ended both of those episodes. Oh, man, we got to do another episode about these. Yeah, I'm ending this episode with you do not need to do. Some of his movies will probably show up in something eventually. But yeah, forcing all of us to try and find a second one that doesn't overlap we haven't already done and is watchable will be a little bit tougher. Well, that means it's my turn. And I had such a good time with band. I say next episode, band. Only together. Your movie has to have a band in it. Oh, yeah. So Heck, yeah. Something like Howard the Duck would work because she's only a Thompson plays Beverly, she's in a band something like, well, trigger tree would definitely work. But I've done it. I've done that one. And I know which one I'm going to talk about. I was a submission to grip con last year, I wasn't able to show it because because we were streaming instead of real world. Oh, wow. Does it does it still need to be like a horror or does it just highlights a genre you know, fit into our genre hoarder, science fiction fantasy action? We should we should aren't crossroads in one episode, right? The devil? Sure. So something like that. So from one band to another, hey, I'm so glad that you changed it to being about music because I was gonna punch you in the face. And I really appreciate that that fun twist. Well, now knowing that and considering how close you are. I'm glad I absolutely love that band on the run. Hey, everybody, so many thanks. Everybody is participating. The value for value model, this is what it gets you apparently, we've just proven that we can be bought you donate amount of money and then suggest that we do the topic and we will pour ourselves out. Damn right. That's right, we've moved past the era of doing commercials as a sellout. Right? That does not exist anymore. That's the whole point as the value for value, it just keeps rolling on. So we give you value you give us value, we continue to give you value. And that does not discount anybody who's liking and sharing posts. Suggesting us to friends writing reviews, all of that stuff means so much so whatever you get out of this, give a little back and yeah, he did. She ate it. If you're like you know, well, you guys are cool, but don't give me my goddamn money. It's five star review. Yeah, I'm gonna say five star review. It's great. Give us a five star review. Or if you want to give us a one star review, please write a very interesting reason why don't just do a rating. We will. We will not accept you once you show up at your house and just ask you kindly. I just need to know. Right? I just it Look, it's fine. Just be honest baseball bat. I just want to know what was going on. What is it? What is it? I'm sorry, can you log in right now? Okay, and we'll just we'll hang out with you while you explain it. This isn't exactly alright guys. Anything else? We're coming in on the last few episodes here. Yeah, Yeah, that'd be weird. But studio is coming to an end. I know. And as you can see, the walls are blank. There's very little left in here. So it's coming along quickly and I'm warming up to the idea. I will tell you that I did have a little conversation with next door neighbor. Oh, who caught me in the hallway and said, Hey, are you moving out? And I said yes I am. And he said Is it because of us? I said I have to admit, it's partly because he says, I know we're not the best neighbors. We're kind of loud, blah, blah, blah. He goes, but we're moving out at the end of the month. And I wanted to strangle him. He told me this last month. Well, I also realized that it's not really he is a symptom of the problem, as the owner of this building clearly doesn't matter how he's got in it. No, it's this is not the first nor will it be the last, a string of issues that you've regaled us with across a few years. Yeah. So. So you know, sometimes when the universe wants you to change, it will force you to change. And I feel like that's what's going on. And I've never once had to change and then felt like, you know, that was a bad idea. I've always changed and it's always been the exact perfect thing for me. So looking forward to this new chapter in my life. All right. And with that, I will say sayonara to everybody, and we will see you next week we're talking about movies with bands in them. So you Our show is recorded somewhere high above Naval Station Everett at the nexus of all realities, and is engineered and produced by Eric Margaret.
